Why I’m Passionate About What I Do:

While I have always enjoyed practicing invasive and clinical cardiology, I have always had a strong interest in preventive cardiology as well. I have been somewhat frustrated over my years of practice by knowing that there must be more to the story of what causes coronary artery disease beyond the classically described risk factors (hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol, smoking family history, sedentary lifestyle). There were always those patients with coronary disease who did not fit the mold of the classic risk factors. After having taken the Bale/Doneen Preceptorship, I have now been exposed to a whole new arena of ways to slow the progression of coronary disease and even prevent its occurrence.  It is this exciting new relationship between coronary disease and the many underlying inflammatory processes that is the key to stopping heart disease in its tracks.  This is also where the Oral-Systemic approach, the relationship between dentists and medical physicians becomes so important.

Why I’m Passionate About What I Do:

Dentistry has been a great passion of mine since I was eleven years old. I believe that, as a dental professional, we have the ability to help people feel and look their best. Over the past decade, I have learned the modern research linking oral health and systemic health and the importance of both. Now, I have the opportunity to apply what I’ve learned and bridge the gap between medical and dental healthcare.

I love my team because we provide true comprehensive care through the leadership of Dr. McClatchie. Our team is composed of knowledgeable clinicians that truly care for patients’ total well-being: We educate and inspire patients to make healthy changes. I am very fortunate to be a part of a team that only delivers the highest standard of care to our patients.

At our office, we address the oral systemic health and nutrition of every patient. We spend time listening to our patients and creating relationships with them to earn their trust. We have extraordinarily skilled clinicians and office personnel who are highly trained to exceed expectations for an excellent dental experience.

Emerging research supports that there is a strong connection between oral health and overall health. With this information, our team of  dental professionals is taking extra care and collaborating with medical teams to help patients live a long, healthy life. We see our patients often and can treat, reverse, and prevent oral diseases to promote overall health. We are in the perfect position to make a difference in the well-being of America, one mouth at a time!

Patti Cozby
Dental Hygienist

Background:

  • Associates Degree in Dental Assisting from Washtenaw Community College
  • Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene from University of Cincinnati, Raymond Walters

Why I’m Passionate About What I Do:

Having worked in a periodontal practice for 16 years, I have seen first-hand, the direct link between oral and systemic health. It is vital for us as dental care providers to teach our patients that direct link and encourage them along their path to optimum overall health. Having the research and tools at our disposal, it is critical that we as healthcare providers provide guidance and expertise to our patients. It is truly an exciting time in dentistry. No longer do we have to play the guessing game in treatment of gingivitis and periodontal disease! New techniques in discovering bacterial load and utilizing DNA testing is the new paradigm in dental care.

Fun Facts:

I love spending time with my children, siblings, and mom. I enjoy going to Drum Corps shows in the summer and Winter Guard shows in the winter. I also love my corgi, Frodo!

Debbie Paul
Treatment Coordinator

Background:

  • Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene from Foothill College
  • Experience as a dental assistant and dental hygienist
  • Currently working in both clinical and administrative capacities

Why I’m Passionate About What I Do:

In my time as a clinician, I have seen the correlation between systemic and oral health. There are many instances of traditional treatment just not working. Now, we have the ability to connect the dots and stop guessing the correct treatment for each individual patient. We are able to better understand the problem and stop treating them all the same. This is also a huge step towards educating people about their overall wellness and the direction their own genes are taking them.

All of us here at Dr. McClatchie’s pride ourselves on being advocates for our patients. We enjoy getting to know each individual and treating them as family. It is a great environment for team members and patients alike. Dr. McClatchie is striving to make a difference for all of our patients and she takes the time to do it right.

Fun Facts:

I enjoy spending time with my husband of 15 years and our two sons. We love camping, sports, (especially hockey – both boys play!), watching movies, trying to learn guitar, and family time.

Why I’m Passionate About What I Do:

We can diagnose conditions from sleep apnea to grinding. Dr. Mc Clatchie goes into great detail with her patients. Her ongoing education ensures that she will be updated on the newest treatment protocol. She is at the forefront of dentistry, testing oral and genetic DNA.

Fun Facts:

I have been married to my best friend, Chuck, for nine years. We have two adult children, Blaze, 21, and Heather, 19. We have custody of our six year old nephew, Talon. In our free time, we can be found watching Talon play sports, hosting cookouts, and having bonfires. We love our family, spending time together any chance we get.

Nicole Merz, BA

Why I’m Passionate About What I Do:

The health and well-being of others is truly important to me. Each patient of our office has unique goals for his/her dental health, and it is incredibly rewarding to be part of a team that helps each person achieve those goals. I always want the best for my own family, and I aspire to offer that same care and consideration to each member of our family here at Dr. McClatchie’s office. Dr. McClatchie really allows us to fulfill our goal as a practice: to show people that oral health is a vital part in the overall care of our bodies. We are a group of highly educated, strong-willed, loving professionals who want the best for each and every person (and patient) we meet.
